Working together to shape our healthcare future
Several years ago, we began a process to identify solutions to the current and future challenges facing the healthcare community in coastal North County. Most urgently, this included the need to upgrade and repair our Hospital to meet the growing needs of our community. Throughout the process we encouraged public participation through surveys, community forums and public meetings.
We have listened and responded to your principal concerns: emergency room overcrowding, the availability of new and innovative medical technologies, doctor and nurse recruitment, patient safety, and earthquake building standards. In response to these concerns, we developed and amended a Master Facilities Plan.
This Master Facilities Plan proposes an expansion and renovation of our Hospital to meet state seismic building standards, increase our patient capacity, promote the recruitment and retention of top notch medical staff, and an ability to incorporate advancements in medical technology; a new Outpatient Services Building to separate inpatient from outpatient care and relieve overcrowding in the emergency room; and single-patient rooms to promote patient safety and privacy.
We will continue to encourage public involvement in the hospital design process as our Plan moves forward and, under the direction of our Board of Directors, will work with physicians, nurses, support staff and constituents to upgrade and improve our facility to ensure the highest level of medical care for our North County community for decades to come.
Sincerely, Arthur A. Gonzalez President and CEO Tri-City Medical Center
