Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Full Course
The two-day American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support FULL COURSE is intended for participants who work in a healthcare setting and are seeking an AHA "ACLS Provider" card. You will be required to attend both days to complete the course. You must bring a current BLS card with you to Class. You are required to go the AHA student website and complete the ACLS pre-test, and bring your certificate with you to class.
If you are not an employee of Tri-City Medical Center, you must bring a picture ID.
This course provides the knowledge and skills to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult cardiovascular emergency. You will not be taught EKG recognition or Pharmacology. The current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support student manual is mandatory for the class. You may purchase the manual for $40, in advance of the class, from the Education Department.
Students are required to manage the 10 core ACLS cases:
- Five types of pre-arrest emergencies (bradycardia, stable bradycardia, stable tachycardia, unstable tachycardia and acute coronary syndromes)
- Four types of cardiac arrest (simple VF/VT, complex VF/VT, PEA and asystole)
- Respiratory emergency
Upon completing the course, students will receive an ACLS Course Completion Card, valid for two years. This course will not provide you with a new BLS card. To renew your BLS card during ACLS, go to www.onlineaha.org and complete the BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part 1 for $22. Register for the hands on skills test, Part 2, during ACLS. The cost for the Part 2 skills test is $30.
