Tri-City Launches “Understanding Childbirth” eClass

Oceanside – Tri-City Medical Center is now offering a new “Understanding Childbirth” eClass to help prepare parents-to-be. Class participants will prepare a birth plan and learn about the birth process through instructive video clips, animations and interactive games. Once the eClass is completed, participants will have the option to visit Tri-City’s onsite childbirth education class to practice breathing techniques and to get questions answered by a certified childbirth educator.

The easy-to-use online program is perfect for busy parents-to-be, moms on bed rest or those who prefer to learn in the privacy of their home. Participants have up to 45 days to complete the class at their own pace, and can review the modules as many times as they want.

Parents taking the online course will learn:

  • What to expect as their due date approaches
  • The labor process – the class has several complete birth stories of mothers delivering their babies
  • How to create a birth plan
  • Breathing and comfort techniques
  • Medical procedure options
  • What to expect with a newborn
  • Postpartum care

“Childbirth classes are an important part of becoming a new parent, but not everyone is able to attend in person,” said Heather Sager, Childbirth Education Manager at Tri-City Medical Center. “We developed this class to better serve all of our parents-to-be across Southern California. Our goal is to make every patient’s pregnancy and birth experience a special and positive memory to cherish forever.”

The “Understanding Childbirth” eClasses will complement Tri-City’s complete perinatal service offerings. In addition to the new eClasses, Tri-City has the first March of Dimes NICU Family Support program in San Diego, the only Level III NICU in North County and a state-of-the-art NICVIEW Camera System, which allows families to see babies in intensive care via mobile web-enabled devices.

Childbirth eClasses are $60 and are payable online by Visa or Mastercard. Interested parents can register for the classes online or by calling 760-940-3102.
