When you feel you or a loved one may be experiencing a heart attack, a fast and accurate diagnosis can save your life. For rapid response to chest pain and discomfort, choose Tri-City Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Health Institute in San Diego’s North County.

Heart Attack Center for San Diego County Region

At Tri-City Medical, you can expect the highest level of heart care—from the time you first experience symptoms through diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.

We’re a designated heart attack (STEMI) receiving center for San Diego County, which means we have the expertise, equipment, facilities and other resources to perform the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures that quickly open blocked arteries and save lives. You benefit from our door-to-balloon times that average seven minutes, which is significantly faster than the national 90-minute standard. And your comprehensive care continues through any inpatient hospital stay, our medically supervised cardiac rehabilitation program and your return to the life you enjoy.

Year after year, Tri-City Medical has received the Mission: Lifeline® Gold Plus Receiving Center award from the American Heart Association. This achievement recognizes the coordinated care across the STEMI network in San Diego County that assures you of fast action for your chest pain symptoms.

Nationally Accredited Chest Pain Center

You also benefit from Tri-City Medical Center’s designation by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) as the first Accredited Chest Pain Center in San Diego County. This means your care begins when you call 9-1-1 to reach your local emergency medical system (EMS) first responders.

As soon as EMS responds to a possible heart attack, Tri-City Medical receives the calls or electrocardiogram (EKG) readings, and we alert our cardiovascular team to prepare for your arrival. You get a precise diagnosis and rapid treatment for your condition in one of our five interventional cardiovascular suites. If you need heart surgery, you have access to advanced technology and expert care in one of our two cardiac-specific operating rooms.
