Tri-City Hospital
Foundation Welcomes New Charitable Champions to its Corporate Council
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (June
11, 2012)-- Tri-City Hospital Foundation’s Corporate Council welcomed new
members Michael Akavan, founder and CEO of MA Engineers; Amber Starbuck, public
affairs manager at SDG&E; and Ryan Stichler, business development manager
at Kitchell.
“Corporate Council is a perfect
way for busy professionals to support our hospital and our community’s health
and wellness. Through the council’s directed giving, our members make a direct
impact on the quality of care our employees, colleagues and neighbors receive
at Tri-City, which is very gratifying,” said Joseph Mason, Chair of Corporate
Council and Vice President of Strategic Accounts for Cardinal Health, Inc.
During its quarterly
meeting on May 22 at Tri-City Medical Center, members heard from Tri-City Emergency Department physician Dr. Gene Ma who
shared with them what a difference their 2009 donation of ultrasound technology
has made to patients in the emergency room and intensive care.
Their gift of two mobile
ultrasound units has helped the hospital’s medical staff dramatically reduce
the potential for complications from central venous catheters to ensure
patients get the care they need in as safe a manner as possible.
Corporate Council is currently
seeking civic-minded leaders to join its business philanthropic group. Since
its formation in 2006 the group has donated more than $500,000 in funds to
support an array of health services and technologies for Tri-City Medical
Center, including the purchase of biliblankets to treat newborns with jaundice,
fetal monitors and the da Vinci® Si
HD robotic surgical system. For more information and to join, contact Tri-City
Hospital Foundation at (760) 940-3370.
