A Message from Kevin Stotmeister
I’m pleased to provide you with a recap of our Foundation’s activities and successes over the past year.
Starting with our leadership, we were pleased to welcome our new executive director, Farrah Douglas, in December 2012. As a Carlsbad City Council Member, in addition to her new post, Farrah has shown the highest dedication to the Tri-City community. She continues to be actively engaged in rebuilding the Foundation through new staff and business practices, and we look forward to seeing her continue to move the Foundation forward in the coming months and years.
Part of that vision to move the Foundation forward includes mobilizing community support, through engagement and contributions, to our various causes.
Events such as the wildly successful “Fashion That Heals” fundraiser held in May continue to forge bonds with our community. With 49 nurse, physician, and medical center employees modeling local fashions, the Foundation staged a fashion show led by local news host Dan Cohen for a crowd of 260 spectators. The event brought in net proceeds of over $96,000.
Programs like Fashion That Heals enable us to pursue our mission of supporting Tri City Medical Center. Recently, we were able to transfer over $900,000 to the medical center for the funding of new equipment. Over $590,000 of those funds went directly towards investing in new equipment that will ensure the highest level of detection, care, and treatment for all Tri-City patients including wireless wristbands for monitoring patient vital signs.
We are very pleased to fulfill the promise we made to you to use the net proceeds from the Fashion That Heals event and the 2012 Diamond Ball to purchase the latest digital mammography equipment to help save women’s lives.
Our work would not be possible without the support of our wonderful community. On behalf of the entire Tri-City Hospital Foundation board and staff, I thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you at the annual Diamond Ball at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort on Nov. 2.
