Tri-City Healthcare District Awards $475,000 in Community Grants

Twenty-two local non-profits benefit from grants awarded by the district’s Community Health Alliance Committee

Oceanside, California – The Tri-City Healthcare District serves its community in many valuable ways. In addition to providing exceptional medical care and wellness programs close to home, it has a long tradition of giving back to the community through its annual community health grants. This year, 22 organizations received $475,000.

Each year, the healthcare district’s Board of Directors allocates funds for healthcare projects run by non-profit agencies located in or serving the citizens of Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Vista. This year, 64 organizations applied for funding for programs that address the healthcare district’s priority issues: access to healthcare, health conditions related to lifestyle and mental health.

“We are so pleased to support these 22 programs and work together to advance our community’s health and wellness. By promoting positive health changes at the grassroots level, Tri-City Healthcare District and our non-profit partners are helping people avoid hospitalization,” said Julie Nygaard, Tri-City Healthcare District board member and chair of its Community Healthcare Alliance Committee which awards the annual grants.

“Our grants are closely monitored and we look forward to seeing a positive difference in critical health issues from diabetes to mental health. Our community’s residents need more of these kinds of community-based programs and we look forward to working in partnership with this year’s grant recipients,” said Tim Moran, CEO of Tri-City Medical Center.
