Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary Awards $67,500 in Scholarships

Giving scholarships since 1973, Tri-City’s exceptional volunteer unit upholds their standard of patronage to deserving students in North County

April 26, 2016

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary is awarding scholarships to 89 students in North County at an annual scholarship night on May 5, 2016.

Since 1973, the volunteer services arm of Tri-City Medical Center has awarded scholarships totaling $764,900. North County nursing students at Mira Costa and Palomar were eligible for the scholarship as well as the hospital’s Junior Volunteers. Many recipients return as employees after graduation to contribute to the exceptional level of care and service at Tri-City Medical Center.

“We believe in giving back to our local community, and through this scholarship program we have been able to make a difference that directly impacts the future of our hospital and the future of these students,” says Connie Jones, chair of the scholarship committee and past president of the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary. “Through the generosity of our donors, we are funding education for future nurses in North County and beyond, and the importance of that cannot be understated. The students at these institutions will be the nurses of tomorrow, and we are proud to help them achieve success at any stage of their career.”

The Auxiliary also believes in rewarding Junior Volunteers for devoting their time to serving others at the hospital. The Junior Volunteers who are receiving scholarships are graduating high school seniors who have volunteered at least 100 hours at the hospital through the Auxiliary and will be continuing their education at a college or university.

Scholarships are awarded to students selected by a committee which reviews and ranks each application.

Interested members of the community can learn more about volunteer opportunities by calling the Volunteer office at (760) 940-3125 or by sending a message from the website at www.tricityhospitalauxiliary.org.
