Meet the Doctor – Wilson Liu, MD

We are honored to have family medicine specialist Wilson Liu, MD as part of the Tri-City community. We sat down with Dr. Liu and asked a few questions to see why he became a doctor and what the community means to him.

Q. What inspired you to become a physician?

In my high school years, I was involved in Key Club, a community service organization. Some of our activities included helping senior citizens and Southeast Asian refugee kids. I discovered that I enjoyed helping people, learning about them as people, and having positive interactions.

Q. What’s your favorite part about living in our community?

The weather, the ocean, and the general niceness and “laid-backness” of the people in our North County San Diego community.

Q. What is the focus of your practice? Do you specialize in a certain aspect or take a special interest in a service line?

Educating patients to lead a healthier lifestyle, practicing preventive medicine to ensure that they can have a longer, quality-filled life.

Q. Why did you choose to be affiliated with a community hospital like Tri-City Medical Center?

I feel that Tri-City Medical Center places an emphasis on service the community, spanning the entire range of demographics.

Q. What would you say to encourage patients across our community to do to improve their health?

Stay physically active most days of the week, make a conscious effort to avoid sugar, reduce or learn how to better cope with stress, and see their primary physician for yearly checkups.

Q. What would people be surprised to know about you? Hidden hobby/talent?

I lived in Japan for 3 years, love music and sports, and practiced various martial arts.
