amanda lloyd, md

We are honored to have dermatologist Amanda Lloyd, MD as part of the Tri-City community practicing out of Skin & Vein Institute in Encinitas, California. We sat down with Dr. Lloyd and asked a few questions to see why she became a doctor and what the community means to her.

Q. What inspired you to become a physician?

I love science, helping people and making people feel good about themselves.

Q. What’s your favorite part about living in our community?

The relaxed easy-going atmosphere. It is a wonderful community filled with genuine people who care about others and the ocean.

Q. What is the focus of your practice? Do you specialize in a certain aspect or take a special interest in a service line?

My focus is on dermatology. I provide care in all aspects of dermatology including cosmetic, laser, medical, surgical (Mohs surgery) and venous. My favorite aspect of dermatology is laser medicine as you can make a huge difference in someone’s life using laser medicine.

Q. Why did you choose to be affiliated with a community hospital like Tri-City Medical Center?

Tri-City Medical Center is a place of collaboration and wonderful peers.

Q. What would you say to encourage patients across our community to do to improve their health?

Wear your sunscreen every day! The day to day skin care routine is something that will prevent you from having to have surgery to get rid of your skin cancer. It matters so wear sunscreen every day no matter what!

Q. What would people be surprised to know about you? Hidden hobby/talent?

I was a cheerleader for UCLA as an undergrad and as a medical student I was a cheerleader at the University of Vermont.
