Best Maternity Care Hospitals 2021 – Newsweek

Best Maternity Care Hospitals 2021 – NewsweekTri-City Medical Center has been recognized by Newsweek as a 2021 “Best Maternity Care Hospital.” This award is granted to hospitals that meet Leapfrog’s rigorous standards for excellence in maternity care – including low rates of C-section, episiotomy, early elective delivery and following important protocols to protect moms and babies, among other measures.

The elite designation, awarded to only 231 hospitals in the United States and 18 in Southern California, identifies leading maternity care programs based on rigorous quality and safety standards.

Patient Safety – Leapfrog Group

B - Spring 2020Tri-City Medical Center achieved an “B” rating in spring 2020 for its Hospital Safety Score based on all publicly available measures of patient safety. The letter grade system was launched in June 2012 by Leapfrog Group, an employer-driven hospital quality watchdog. Consumers can access scores at Tri-City Medical Center has succeeded in achieving significant patient safety score improvement through a focused effort including hourly rounding by medical center staff and additional rounding by its leadership, programs to decrease infections, emphasizing fall prevention, efficiency and quality teams and monthly audits and internal measurement to track the success of the medical center’s efforts.

American College of Cardiology Award for Cardiac Care

Tri-City Medical Center has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry–GWTG Gold Performance Achievement Award for 2018. This award is granted to organizations that demonstrate their commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Tri-City Medical Center has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations. Tri-City Medical Center is one of only 37 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.

Wound Care Facility of the Year

Dedicated to the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds the clinic offers medical treatment, education and prevention, case management, vascular testing and nutrition counseling.

Designated Blue Distinction Center – Cardiac Care & Spine Surgery

Tri-City Medical Center has been designated as a Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care and spine surgery by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The designation was awarded because we deliver high-quality and safe specialty care based on criteria that directly impacts patient results, such as surgical team expertise and a history of better outcomes for patients. The program, which Blue Cross/Blue Shield developed with input from the medical community, recognizes that TCMC outperforms its peers in quality and safety.
