Oceanside – Tri-City Healthcare District Board of Directors have selected District resident Ira Landis to fill the vacancy created when Director Madeline Rodriguez resigned last April.
Three applicants were interviewed by the board at a special board meeting Monday night, and each had a 30-minute time period to discuss his/her qualifications for the position and to respond to directors’ questions. Following the presentations, the board voted to fill the vacant slot for the remainder of the term which ends in November.
Landis currently serves on the board’s Finance, Operations and Planning (FOP) Committee as well as the Audit Committee. Landis’ professional background includes over 40 years as a licensed CPA and more than 10 years as an adjunct professor of accounting at various universities, colleges and community colleges.
Board Chair RoseMarie Reno said, “It was a very difficult choice because each of the candidates was highly qualified. I was particularly impressed with Mr. Landis’ dedication to our district and the hospital. He attends every board meeting and participates actively on the FOP and Audit Committees.”
In his application, Landis explained his motivation in seeking to fill the vacancy, stating, “I am committed to ensuring that Tri-City Medical Center provides outstanding medical care for our community, utilizing its resources efficiently and productively. My family, friends, and neighbors warrant the best I can do to help maintain and improve TCMC facilities, improve the quality of services, and make it a place where the medical staff, nurses, and other employees will be proud to perform their duties.”
Landis, upon questioning from the board, indicated that he would pursue the board position during the November election, when the seat will be open for a full four-year term.
