Dr. Sahagian is accepting new patients.

Dr. Sahagian is a board certified member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Sahagian graduated from Columbia University with a B.S in Chemical Engineering. He completed his M.D. at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York with special distinction for research in Cardiovascular Medicine. After a medical internship at the Winthrop University Hospital SUNY School of Medicine, he completed his neurology residency in 1999 at UCSD where he was given the honor of Chief Resident. He completed his neuromuscular fellowship at UCSD, with sub specialty training in neuromuscular diseases, electromyography and botulinum toxin use. He has continued at UCSD as an Assistant Clinical Professor.

Dr. Sahagian specializes in diagnosing and treating neuromuscular disorders such as Myasthenia Gravis, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, Neuropathy, Myopathy and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome He is an expert in performing Electromyography/Nerve Conduction (EMG) studies and performing skin biopsies to help diagnose disorders such as Small Fiber Neuropathy. His Neuro-diagnostic team also performs tests such as EEGs (electroencephalograms), SSEPs (Somatosensory Evoked Potentials) and VNG (Videonystagmography) all in the relaxed comfort of an office setting. He has been active with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and attends the MDA neuropathology case conference at Rady Children’s Hospital regularly.

Dr. Sahagian is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the Association of California Neurologists, the California Medical Association, the San Diego Neurologic Society, the American Medical Association, and the San Diego County Medical Society. He acted as Program Chairman of the San Diego Neurologic Society and has represented the Association of California Neurologists as a delegate to the California Medical Association and the American Medical Association. He remains active in the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine as the California State Liaison.

He is the CEO/CFO of The Neurology Center of Southern California and works with a team of neurologists who specialize in diagnosing and treating neurological disorders such as: Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, epilepsy, seizure disorders, dementia, head injury and spinal disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, tremors, dizziness, movement disorders, sleep apnea, insomnia, migraine headaches and Torticollis.

Dr. Sahagian has participated as an investigator for numerous clinical research studies. He believes in offering our community a setting for scientifically valid clinical research in an environment that promotes the highest standards of medical inquiry.
