Programs and Services

Our multi-specialty team of certified wound care physicians, nurses, and case managers work together to treat chronic non-healing wounds. During the course of treatment patients will receive an initial physician evaluation, plus, as needed, may also receive advanced vascular testing, nutritional evaluation and counseling, diabetic education, and education on wound prevention. Primary care and referring physicians remain an integral part our patients’ treatment plans.

We treat chronic, non-healing wounds resulting from the following conditions:

  • Diabetic Ulcers
  • Venous Ulcers
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Arterial Ulcers
  • Collagen Vascular Disease
  • Ischemia (circulatory problems)
  • Compromised skins graft/flaps
  • Soft tissue radiation necrosis
  • Chronic Osteomyelitis

Hyperbaric Medicine

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy serves as an important adjunctive therapy in the healing of various hard-to-heal wounds.  Patients breathe 100% oxygen inside of a pressurized, see-through chamber so they won’t feel confined. The chamber quickly delivers high concentrations of oxygen to accelerate the healing of wounds. All treatments are physician prescribed and monitored by Certified Hyperbaric Technicians and Certified Hyperbaric Physicians. This treatment is effective in fighting certain types of infections.

The following medical conditions are recognized by Medicare and other insurances and benefit from hyperbaric oxygen therapy:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Compromised skins grafts and flaps
  • Non-healing surgical wounds
  • Non-healing arterial wounds
  • Acute or chronic peripheral ischemia
  • Limb salvage
  • Soft tissue wounds in previously irradiated areas
  • Late effect of radiation including osteoradionecrosis, radiation cystitis and radiation proctitis

Ostomy Care and Management

Our ostomy clinical staff includes Wound Ostomy Continence Nurses (WOCNs) who are specially trained to provide complete ostomy care including:

  • Pre-operative site marking and education
  • Post-operative stoma care and management
  • Assistance with appliances and lifestyle adaptation

Amputation Prevention Program

Our trained clinicians work to salvage limbs that may otherwise be considered for amputation. We strive to dramatically reduce lower extremity amputations in individuals struggling with diabetes mellitus, Hansen’s disease or other conditions that result in poor circulation and loss of sensation in the feet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of conditions improve with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

  • Chronic, non-healing wounds
  • Diabetic foot wounds
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Radiation tissue damage
  • Compromised skin grafts and flaps

What can HBOT do for your patients?

  • It increases the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the blood, which enhances cellular oxygenation
  • It stimulated the formation of a collagen matrix so that new blood vessels may develop
  • It promotes the growth of new blood vessels in areas with problematic perfusion
  • It replaces inert gas in the bloodstream with oxygen, which is then metabolized by the body
  • It works as a bactericide

How does treatment occur?

Patients breathe 100% pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber for 90-120 minutes, five times per week, over a prescribed treatment course, typically 20-40 sessions. Angiogenesis and fibroplasia generally develop in response to HBOT when given at 2.0-2.4 atmospheric pressure.
