About Jihad Jaffer, MD

Biography

Dr. Jaffer comes to the Neurology Center after heading up the first Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Under his direction, the IRU was recognized as a UDS top performing rehabilitation unit.

Dr. Jaffer considers himself a true physiatrist. He was so drawn to physiatry’s ideal of maximizing a person’s function that he chose to pursue additional training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation after completing his Internal Medicine residency. Dr. Jaffer remains committed to rehabilitating his patients to their fullest potential and enjoys teaching his patients about their bodies so that they take can control of their own healing and wellness. Dr. Jaffer has special clinical interests in the treatment of amputees, ultrasound-guided injections, and non-medication alternatives to pain management.

Dr. Jaffer completed his PM&R training at Case Western in Cleveland where he also stayed on for several years as an attending and assistant professor. During that time, he was awarded the PM&R Faculty Teaching Award.

As a graduate of UCSD, Dr. Jaffer is delighted to be returning to San Diego and looks forward to settling in the area with his wife and three children. In his spare time, Dr. Jaffer enjoys hockey, cooking, and all things tech.
