This is a 1-day course. This course uses a case study approach to analyze complicated FHM patterns and characteristics. The course includes maternal-fetal physiology, instrumentation, interpretation, intervention, verbal and written communication skills and risk-management principles.

Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course the participant will:

  • Describe physiologic principles of maternal and fetal oxygen transfer as they apply to principles of fetal monitoring
  • Recognize fetal cardiac arrhythmia patterns and describe potential outcomes associated with these patterns
  • Analyze complex case studies and tracings utilizing standardized terminology
  • Apply perinatal risk management principles, communication techniques and documentation strategies to complex and challenging patient care scenarios.

Target Audience
This course is designed for clinicians with at least 1 year of experience and focuses on application of advanced concepts and knowledge as they apply to complex maternal-fetal case scenarios. A thorough knowledge of maternal –fetal physiology, as well as the physiologic concepts of FHR patterns and interventions is expected prior to attending.

This two-day course focuses on the application of essential fetal monitoring knowledge and skills used in intrapartum nursing practice. The course consists of didactic and skill station sessions.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Update Course2019-12-26T12:34:45-08:00

The one-day American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support UPDATE COURSE is intended for participants who work in a healthcare setting and have a current AHA “ACLS Provider” card.  You must bring your current ACLS card and current BLS card with you to class.  You are required to go the AHA student website and complete the ACLS pre-test, and bring your certificate with you to class.

If you are not an employee of Tri-City Medical Center, you must bring a picture ID.

The ACLS Update course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to perform in both a team leader and a team member role in an unexpected emergency.  The current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support student manual is mandatory for the class.  You may purchase the manual for $40, in advance of the class, from the Education Department.

Upon completing the course, students will receive an electronic AHA ACLS Course Completion Card, valid for two years.  This course will not provide you with a new BLS card.  To renew your BLS card during ACLS, go to www.onlineaha.org and complete the HeartCode BLS Online Course Part 1 for $28.50.  Register for the hands on skills test, Part 2, during ACLS.  The cost for the Part 2 skills test is $30.
