Course Description & Purpose:
This is a 1-day course. This course uses a case study approach to analyze complicated FHM patterns and characteristics. The course includes maternal-fetal physiology, instrumentation, interpretation, intervention, verbal and written communication skills and risk-management principles.

Upon successful completion of the course the participant will:
• Describe physiologic principles of maternal and fetal oxygen transfer as they apply to principles of fetal monitoring
• Recognize fetal cardiac arrhythmia patterns and describe potential outcomes associated with these patterns
• Analyze complex case studies and tracings utilizing standardized terminology
• Apply perinatal risk management principles, communication techniques and documentation strategies to complex and challenging patient care scenarios.
This course is designed for clinicians with at least 1 year of experience and focuses on application of advanced concepts and knowledge as they apply to complex maternal-fetal case scenarios. A thorough knowledge of maternal –fetal physiology, as well as the physiologic concepts of FHR patterns and interventions is expected prior to attending.

The total course fee is $200 payable by check (to TCMC) or credit card. This includes $100 for the course and $100 for the required AWHONN course materials. In addition, it is recommended participants review the Fetal Heart Monitoring Principles and Practices (FHMPP) 5th Ed book at least 14 days prior to the class date. The FHMPP book may be purchased directly from Kendall-Hunt https://awhonn.kendallhunt.com using the workshop ID listed above. Allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. Continental breakfast and lunch provided.
Cancellation & Refund Policy Course Materials
Course refunds will be provided if written or telephone cancellation is received by the registration deadline. Cancellations after the deadline and ‘no shows’ will be charged the full registration fee. A minimum of 7 participants is required to hold the course. If minimum enrollment is not met by the course registration deadline, the course may be canceled.
Continuing Education Credit
Those who attend and participate in the entire course will receive 8.0 contact hours. AWHONN is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. AWHONN holds a California CNE provider #CEP580.
