What to Expect During Your Stay

what-to-expect-imageWe want you to be completely prepared to deliver your baby. We believe that knowing what to expect will help you make informed choices about your birth plan for labor and delivery.

We offer a number of classes to help you learn more about childbirth, breastfeeding, and helping older children adjust to a new baby. Our videos take you through each step of delivery.

By pre-registering well before your due date, you can be assured that we’ll be ready for you when you arrive.

All of our Labor and Delivery suites are private and designed to be comfortable and homelike. A recliner/sleeper is included for your partner. Every suite includes state-of-the art equipment, allowing you to stay in the same room from labor through delivery.

Your nurse will work with you to follow your birth plan preferences, including pain medication. In addition to your own obstetrician, our medical staff includes nurses, anesthesiologists, and neonatologists

You will be examined by a nurse when you arrive to determine your stage of labor. Once you’ve been admitted your nurse will regularly assess your condition. She will be in touch with your obstetrician throughout your labor, keeping him or her updated on your progress.

Our goal is for you to labor and deliver in the same room. In the event of a Caesarean-section, our fully-equipped Obstetrical Surgical Suites are just steps away and are available 24/7.

After your delivery you will be moved to our Mother-Baby unit. Here we will help you recover, monitoring you and your baby. Our nurses will check your condition, help you care for your baby, and offer instruction with breastfeeding.

Once your doctor and your baby’s pediatrician have released you to go home we’ll help you get ready to go home. Remember to have a rear-facing car seat properly installed in your car to safely transport your family.
