New Medical Office Building on Its Way to Campus
The Oceanside Planning Commission unanimously approved the construction of a 57,476-square-foot medical office building (MOB) and associated site improvements on the campus of Tri-City Medical Center. The MOB will be built on the current site of the annex building on the immediate west side of the hospital’s main entrance off Vista Way. The completed structure will contain doctors’ offices. The project will be the first major construction project on the campus in three decades.
“This is part of our overall strategy to rebuild our campus and to provide our physicians and patients with state-of-the-art facilities,” said CEO Larry B. Anderson. “I am very pleased with the Commission’s approval and their supportive comments about what we are doing to improve our hospital.”
The commission’s action approved plans and specifications created by Landreth Development to build a three-story medical office building and surrounding paved parking and drive areas. The attached illustration depicts the view of the new structure as it will look from Vista Way.
The Commission approved a Development Plan, a Conditional Use Permit and a Mitigated Negative Declaration.
RoseMarie Reno, Chairman of the TCHD Board of Directors, commented, “This construction project is evidence of our intent to give this community the caliber of facilities it wants and deserves. I’m proud to make this improvement to our campus.”
Three members of the public addressed the Commission about the plans. Each of them spoke in support of the project, sharing compliments about the design efforts and the construction project.
Under the Oceanside city ordinance, the decision of the Planning Commission is final unless appealed to the City Council within 10 days of the Commission’s action.
